12/18/2024 Kick Recap - "Something To Gain"

Lang runs into a mouthy officer at the apartments, he bumps him off his bike as he leaves. Lang arrives at the the Forge and finds Skipper watching a movie on the TV. Liya tells everyone they have Stockholm Syndrome, Martin tells them he thinks the quality is amazing. They want to drop some money in the clubs and clean whatever cash is available, so they stop by Bahama Mama's. Bubbles tells them he qualified for the races, Martin wants to try, Lang offers to trade the Elegy he got from Jay Hobbs for the RSX. Martin doesn't want the Sandal because it has 2 VAFs. They take a wander through the sewers, and Lang converts some materials for the butcoin farm.

Martin calls Lang to invite him to the Besties Auction, Lang calls Zeek to ask for 500 butcoin from South Cypress, but Zeek can't hear since he's also at the auction. Lang arrives at the auction and notices they have everything on display. He quickly picks up a shotgun slider and walks out to his car, the Besties follow him outside and frisk him. They don't find it on him, but he returns inside and acts interested in a gun. 4Head offers him the gun for 65k, Lang puts the shotgun slider back and leaves. Lang returns to Cypress and grabs the cash from his personal stash, and returns to make the exchange with 4Head. Arush greets Lang at his car, Lang doesn't seem very interested, so he leaves.

Lang takes Bubbles to get some supplies, annoyed with Bubbles' driving they set up for a Cash Exchange. Luciano calls to tell Lang that he'll give him anything he needs, Lang lies and says he calls Luciano all the time and he doesn't pick up. Luciano tells Lang that he loves him and to call him if he needs anything at all. Luciano reminds him to transfer the Silo, but it has taxes owed again. Lang runs inside City Hall to check the taxes ($70k) and he's stunned at how high they are. Luciano says he'll transfer the money to get it handled. Martin and Bubbles are already breaking into the Cash Exchange, Lang waits in the Sandal outside. The cops don't chase them, Lang regroups at the Forge. Edgar calls to get Lang for the FIB Heist, so he grabs Martin and they head to Paleto.

Lang recaps the theory Edgar has, but Martin seems skeptical. Lang grows frustrated with Martin's attitude, but he argues that this is helpful to problem solving. Saab wakes up, so Lang calls him to Paleto. Jay tells them that Zeek and Luciano are already in the bank, Lang tries to get Luciano to either join them or give the bank to them. Zeek calls to complain about Lang doing Maze Bank, but Lang wasn't sure if they sent the butcoin. Lang tries to convince Zeek to give up the job for them since they're ready, but hides that Edgar and Jay are with them. Martin thinks they're not getting the Cargo Heist card since it's the first Paleto robbery for the day, and he offers to give Zeek the info.

They wait on a nearby rooftop and watch, discussing theories and options. Skipper called Martin to report that Zeek was calling around to get info on North Cypress, Martin tells Lang, so he calls Zeek to threaten him about doing that. Zeek tries to explain that he was asking if they had a purple card, but Lang hangs up. More people show up, Edgar suggests that if they get countered, they can counter the counter. There isn't much shooting, so Lang thinks it's just the rest of their South Cypress group. Lang asks about the person he shot at last night, Jay says that it was Hades and they're mad about it. Jay didn't say it was Lang, so Lang appreciates it.

Clark pulls up on them hiding by the house, Jay and Edgar press Clark for lurking. Lang, Martin, and Saab remain hidden on the roof. Martin runs over to check on the Paleto progress, Lang calls Clark to see what they got. Clark still doesn't know what they got, Lang doesn't like his attitude and threatens him. Edgar accidentally stirs, Lang warns him to be careful. They decide to split off and re-group in a few hours.

Clark calls back to tell Lang they just got an FIB document. Lang thinks that Martin's theory is correct, Martin told Edgar already, too. They want to gather all the pages to see if looking at them together means anything. They meet at the Kortz Center, but Edgar doesn't have the documents because he thought they were attending the party. They follow Edgar to Paleto to get the FIB documents and brainstorm the data. Edgar explains that the documents are not chronological, and that the words seem to be riddled. Lang reads through the documents and grows incredibly suspicious about the details in the documents, but determines they need drugs to help.

Clark calls to see if Lang needs any documents, but Lang just complains about Clark's attitude and Zeek getting away with a lot more than he should. Lang returns to Martin explaining this thoughts about the documents, Lang wants the 500k owed to him. Edgar spirals about Lang being an ex-FIB member, Lang jokes about the devil and stirs Edgar back. Saab arrives and adds to the theorizing, Lang mocks their group and the stirring. Edgar threatens to kill anyone if they leave, Edgar pulls out a molotov until they calm him down. Lang thinks that Edgar might be the devil, since he brought them all together. Lang begins to question Edgar, he stalls on a question about love.

They start discussing who has to die first instead, Edgar compares their discussion to Survival. Jay tells them he used to be in Gulag Gang and Martin was his true leader. They discuss the name for Edgar's group, 3 Trepas. They spot a masked man with a gun outside, Lang yells in frustration about being caught up with 'The Faceless'. Martin thinks they should go out and fight, but Edgar wants to speak to him instead. Edgar goes outside the trailer, but the man is missing. He encourages them to leave, so Lang and Martin drive off.

Martin doesn't think this is about hacking heists anymore, Lang doesn't want this type of shit in his life anymore, but remembers he still has the FIB documents on him. They return to the Forge and head to Lang's office, Lang lays the documents out on the coffee table and they discuss the order again. Martin sorts the documents and keypads a file cabinet for them to store the pages. Lang and Martin still think they NEED to hit Paleto, so they drive back up to the bank. Edgar calls to warn Lang about The Faceless twat that reads "secrets are blood-bound, spill them, and the price will be paid in your own". Martin gets a call from an Unknown Number, but it's Jay Hobbs. Martin checks the bank, Lang gets a ping from The Faceless and the location is around the corner.

Lang calls Edgar to tell him about the ping, and the incredible shift in thundering weather. Edgar tried to warn Lang, but Lang refuses to be involved. Martin thinks they should face it head on, Lang makes a joke about it being ironic since they have to face The Faceless. Lang drives down to the wood lodge and pings Edgar. Martin tries to beckon the Faceless but Lang thinks he's messing around. Edgar and Jay arrive, they blame Lang for not believing them. Edgar says that he has been working with the Faceless for years, even back on Sanguine. Edgar tells them that the Faceless have him transporting weapons and nukes, Lang and Martin are in disbelief. They want to hit Paleto bank still, so Lang and Martin commit.

They still can't hit the bank yet, so they meet Jay and Edgar around the corner. Edgar takes them inside a property they have, which happens to be across the street from Paleto bank. Jay tells them about the classified files they got from the Faceless, Edgar is frustrated that they are being told all the secrets. Martin doesn't like that the more they are told, the deeper involved they become. They meet Edgar and Jay back at the trailer, and Edgar explains that they now work for the Faceless. Lang takes the classified files, and leaves with Martin.

-
Lang tells Martin they might as well dive deep into this, but Martin doesn't want to die. Bubbles calls and Martin plays it off like they were busy getting furniture. They return to Cypress, Lang heads inside to watch TV, but Martin calls him back out to see the helicopter that nearly lands on top the Forge. Lang decides to go back inside and watch TV, Martin joins him.

Lang heads to bed.
