Benji, KJ, and Reggie Talk

  • KJ starts off by bringing up concerns over Benji’s abnormal behavior the previous day. KJ elaborates that Benji was “cold” specifically to Reggie. Reggie explains that he’s confused as to why Benji is so different and is okay with violence within the gang. Benji responds that he does not view Hades as a “family” and “does not give a fuck” about the associates. He wants them to be treated harshly because they are soft.
  • Benji wants to have a different approach for Hades because he believes the gang is performing poorly, is not a family, and cannot function without the leaders around.
  • Reggie doesn't want to talk about the gang but rather wants reassurance that Benji still wants him around.
  • Benji asks Reggie to leave and reveals to KJ that because Reggie complained about the gang and was bored, he has been testing him for the past month and a half in order to make him crack. Benji states that Reggie's biggest mistake/flaw is that he verbalizes and vocalizes what he can get away with, while KJ does not. Benji wanted to mold Reggie where he can hold people's respect independent from his relationship to Benji. KJ is concerned that if Benji continues to test Reggie, he will not be to handle it and they will lose him.

- Benji decides to postpone a conversation with Reggie because they had to attend Rico's wedding

  • Hours later, Benji and Reggie meet at the jetty to continue talking
  • Benji explains that Reggie needs to be his own man and that he needs strong-minded individuals who support him unconditionally
  • He complains it’s too obvious that Reggie does everything for him. He says that there is a section of the gang that only respects Reggie because he does. Also, he wants Reggie’s motivations to come from within and not because he's trying to please him
  • He then tells Reggie that he is free to make up his mind about what he wants to do going forward
  • Benji dislikes that the gang is too aware of his bias towards Reggie. He says he loves Reggie’s loyalty but he needs to change how he shows it. Reggie’s bias is too obvious and it’s hindering his position in the gang by making him look weak
  • Benji explains that he needs to change things up because the gang’s problems are only going to intensify. He doesn’t know what’s next but needs a very strong Reggie and KJ for the future. He dislikes that people’s respect for Reggie is very inconsistent, especially compared to someone like KJ
  • Benji reveals that he does not see hades as “forever." Reggie explains that Benji and KJ will be always be above Hades for him
  • Benji says that he messes with people close to him because he likes maintaining the same people in his life but changing them so that they evolve into different variations of themselves
  • He concludes the conversation by giving Reggie time to decide if he wants to continue being an underboss or not…

TLDR: Benji dislikes that Reggie is too obvious about the privilege and immunity he possesses through their relationship. He wants Reggie to earn respect as his own person and develop independence because he currently looks weak within the gang. Benji reveals that he doesn't see Hades lasting forever and wants to prepare/mold Reggie and KJ for whatever comes in the future. Finally, he leaves Reggie to decide if he wants to continue being an underboss and consider the implications that come with that decision.
