2/3/2025 Kick Recap - "Glory To The Cock"

Lang wakes up to an urgent text from Andi and meets CJ at the Nest (Lang's water tower home). CJ gives her weekend recap, assuring Lang she didn’t get into any new trouble. She mentions stabbing officer Trygg and finding out she was listed as one of his emergency contacts, so she visited him in the ICU. Lang finds their dynamic weird and hears some suspicious noises around the nest. CJ also fills Lang in on a situation—Saab didn’t take a medical supply from one of their job cars, which led to Sofia getting raided. Luckily, she didn’t have any criminal goods on her. Saab was somewhat aware of the Cassie jailbreak and nearly attempted to break her out while she was working in the city over the weekend, but ultimately decided against it.

CJ then gifts Lang a basketball signed by LeBron, Lang brags that he’s friends with him, and will confirm if the signature is legit. She also remembers settling her beef with Andi and speaking to her. They’re both unsure what Andi wanted, but she seemed stressed. Lang and CJ shoot the ball around, but after Lang throws it off the nest, CJ goes to look for it.

Lang spends some time building up strategy for the jailbreak and learning about the equipment he might need. Lang and CJ call Ursula to meet them at a trailer park nearby. Ursula tells them she doesn’t feel close to either the DOC or her clown friends anymore and is looking for a new place or group to call home. Lang lays out his suspicions about her, explains their motivations for breaking Cassie out, and hopes she can help.

Lang takes CJ into one of the abandoned garages where old tech from previous heists is still scattered around, but instead, he decides to take her to the Rooster’s Rest. CJ tells Lang that people steal the AC units multiple times a day off the roof, which leaves him in disbelief. While looking around, CJ finds a strange document on the ground and reads it to Lang, but he doesn’t care. When Lang realizes he can’t get through the front door, they creep around the side and go through the tunnels.

Inside, Lang takes CJ through the basement, showing her where Cassie can hide after they break her out. The basement of the Rooster’s Rest is covered in dim lights and cobwebs. CJ notices armor in Lang’s old room and asks about it, but he ignores the question. They climb up to the main room and the old manager’s office, where CJ points out the sword and helmet. Lang doesn’t want to talk about those either. Moving into the back office, CJ and Lang do some coke, and Lang gets caught up reminiscing. He shares memories about how close he used to be with Harry and how lively the restaurant once was. He shows CJ the Rooster’s logo and the iconic phrase etched into the wooden frame of the office.

CJ then notices the Mark of Talon on one of the desks, which prompts Lang to spill everything. He tells CJ about the terrorist organization—who was involved, what they got up to, and why. Continuing the tour, he leads her back into the tunnels, pointing out Meowfurrion’s mask and explaining how they killed him in the basement and left his body to rot. CJ isn’t sure if Cassie should have access to all this space, but Lang figures she won’t know the basement well enough for it to matter.

Lang then takes CJ to the library, having her read through some of the books that are still spread out. She asks about the School, and Lang goes deep into his past with Donnie. He explains how they convinced the Guild to get involved, teaching them to never break character and always act like their Dungeons & Dragons personas. Now, even years later, they still don’t drop character. He tells her how they built an entire religion around a made-up figure called the Stormlord and claims that when he puts on the armor, the character comes to life. His only regret is abandoning the Rest—it felt like all the work they put in was wasted.

As they leave, Lang hears the security alarm go off and realizes people are roof running at that very moment. Before parting ways, he reminds CJ that she can never spill any of that lore. She understands.

Later, Lang calls Larry down to give a speech at Ilya’s grave. Larry arrives with Bubbles and delivers a compassionate but somewhat terrible speech at the Cypress gravesite. He makes some interesting points, but he keeps bringing up Clark killing Ilya. This doesn't make Lang feel better, but it’s exactly what he expected from Larry. Afterward, Larry asks to speak privately about some new updates, so they head to the Nest.

Larry tells Lang that Andi called him to meet with Baeric, who is now missing one arm and scarred from being tortured by the Faceless. Baeric reveals that he was tortured for information and confirms that Larry was quoted telling the police about them, using their nickname "Faze Clan." Larry is worried—if Baeric got tortured over just having a blue card, he can’t imagine what they’ll do to him since he has a red card. Lang hopes they won’t have to deal with it, and they leave it at that.

The North heads out to do a gun crate, finding it down in Hades turf. Lang waits for the crew to track the scheduled delivery time. After checking every Ammunation, they finally find the schedule. Lang breaks open the crate and steals the gun parts, leading to a police chase. On the highway, Lang flips his car, and Saab tries to help him, but Lang jumps in the way and gets run over in the process.

Saab picks Lang up and drives his unconscious body around the city, as the crew attempts to evade the PD through the subway tunnels. Saab flips his car, the police close in, but two trains plow through the tunnels, nearly killing everyone. Larry arrives with a tow truck, Lang is loaded onto the bed, and the chase continues. Eventually, everyone crashes and gets downed, leading to the police arresting the entire crew. In cuffs, Lang banters with the cops about the new Luka trade to the Lakers before asking about the Ilya investigation. The police say they want to question Lang, so he offers to come in later this week. He gets sent up to jail.

While inside, Lang and CJ have a quick chat about the heist. CJ got caught early and was only charged for the coke and joyriding. In visitation, Lang runs into Andi and jokes that he has 660 months, but a nearby DOC guard knocks off some time from his sentence. Andi wants to talk, so Lang considers getting a prison phone to call her. Before she leaves, Lang officially lifts CJ’s punishment of wearing shoes, and she runs off in glee.

A lifer named Abby hands Lang a cellphone, and he calls Andi. She reminds him that she never broke his trust and never told the other Dons about his previous issues or his thoughts on separating the North. Andi explains that after she took Baeric to meet Larry, the Faceless called her and threatened her. Andi tells Lang that the Faceless might want a secured room in the Liquid Library in exchange for leaving her alone. Lang agrees and even offers another secret room if she needs it. After the call, he returns the cellphone, makes small talk with Abby, and heads to bed in his cell.
