2/4/2025 Kick Recap - "Life Is Like A Basketball Game"

Lang runs into Tony at the Forge and catches up briefly. Tony asks to drive Lang’s car, but Lang refuses to hand over the keys. Meanwhile, CJ updates Lang on her stalker situation—she spoke with the stalker’s boyfriend, cleared the air, and believes she’s now blocked and won’t be stalked anymore. She’s enjoying her newfound freedom without shoes, saying she feels more grounded. However, she parked her car and forgot people could lockpick it, so someone stole her parts.

Lang and CJ discuss their options for the jailbreak, debating whether they’re actually ready or if they’re getting in over their heads. Before they can decide, Larry and Bubbles show up to tell Lang about Ron Oil’s sudden presence in the city and the potential that oil might have moving forward. Lang doesn’t care or believe in it, telling Larry that he’s not locked in enough. Larry pushes back, arguing that the Lucky Plucker is open every morning and that he just wants to spend time with Lang, but Lang isn’t interested.

Lang takes them up into the Nest, where Bubbles brags about doing oxy runs with Zeek at 4 AM. Larry shares his personal frustrations, apologizing for missing the first funeral and promising to make it up to Lang for the sake of their friendship. After that, Lang heads up to the prison to meet with Cassie, but she’s nowhere to be found. The Lifers mention that she’s caught up in a beef with someone inside. Lang relays this to CJ, who helps explain that the conflict is why all the Lifers lost phone access. They want to set up a new job, so CJ leaves to prepare while Lang calls Saab down to the Forge to reprimand him.

Saab arrives and immediately apologizes for his performance yesterday. Lang questions him about Sofia getting raided, and Saab takes accountability for leaving the medical supply in the job car. To make up for it, he already paid Sofia 100k. They shift the conversation to Sofia’s potential and her relationships outside the crew, and Lang starts considering a new role for her to be promoted into. Saab wants to show Lang his hookah lounge, but Lang reminds everyone they have a meeting soon. Liya agrees and says they need to talk.

Lang pulls Liya aside to clarify what she means. She shares concerns about the crew not pushing weed as aggressively as they initially seemed eager for. Since Sofia and Martin haven’t been paying people out, she took it upon herself to start doing it. Lang offers to give her access to the money crates and remembers that he has plenty of money sitting in the clubs waiting to be cleaned. They form up a group and decide to get the money runs done.

During one of the runs, Lang crashes and gets ejected from the car. Liya takes him to the hospital to get back on his feet. While waiting, Liya asks Lang about the Luka trade, and he gives her his best metaphor for life. Gigi calls to check in, saying that Sofia told her Lang was sad. She fills him in on her time in the South, which Lang instantly regrets.

Gigi raises suspicions about Luciano and Andi spending private time together, assuming they’re up to something secret, though she hasn’t pressed them about it yet. She also reveals that she didn’t agree with Ilya being blooded out and didn’t even know he was dead until she saw the cops pulling his body out of the water. Lang believes the South is still lacking proper leadership, and Gigi agrees, giving examples of times when she’s been reined in for stepping up as a leader. Lang jokes about one day taking over the South again, but Gigi thinks it might be a lost cause.

Lang and the crew continue running money drops when the police start chasing them. Lang hides until the heat dies down, eventually finding his way into the ADMC garage, where he almost gets robbed—until they recognize him and leave him alone. Once the coast is clear, Lang drops off the money run truck and collects the cash. On the way back to Cypress, CJ crashes and ejects Lang again.

Lang decides to hold a meeting with the North. As the crew gathers, Sofia mentions that Alex used to sell heroin for Lang. Without hesitation, Lang orders Skipper to find and kill Alex for leaking that. Saab says something stupid, so Lang makes him run a lap. Lang reminds everyone that he doesn’t want to micromanage earnings—the North’s mentality should be about staying active. Larry interrupts to say that one of his relatives might be dead, meaning another funeral could be on the horizon. Lang then tells the crew he’s sick of people sharing things with the South when they should remain private. Sofia admits to telling Gigi about Lang’s mood, Lang also hints that someone new will be joining them soon, but refuses to say who. Before leaving, Liya tells Lang that his money is in his office, and thanks him for saving them from being stuck in the South.

Larry stays behind to tell Lang that he was pressing him too hard. Before he can finish his point, Tony randomly hits Larry with a stray insult before leaving, leaving Larry confused. Lang calls Tony to figure out why he was rude, and Tony admits he wasn’t really thinking—he just dropped a one-liner to back up Lang’s point. Lang tells him to talk to Larry before things escalate.

Lang calls Tony again for help putting new tires on his car, but Tony recently went to jail and lost his rep, so he can’t do the job anymore. Larry calls Lang to meet the rest of the Knox family, but Lang wants to do a Fleeca first. He heads to Tuner to find a mechanic, but can’t get one in time for the job. Lang arrives at the bank and successfully hacks the vault door, joking with CJ about "trading" members like NBA players. She offers to to the thermite, so Lang returns to Tuner to get his tires swapped.

After the job, he then meets up with Andi at the Nest to continue their conversation. On his way back to Cypress, Lang gets pulled over by officer Carmine. They banter for a while, with Carmine claiming he’s going to get fired if he keeps acting extra. In the end, he just issues a warning and lets Lang go. Andi arrives and compliments the Nest. She and Lang discuss how to save Larry from the Faceless. Andi believes that if she opens the Liquid Library secret room, she’ll have to open the rest for Max to use as well. Lang is glad it won’t take long, and is surprised Andi even has the Faceless’ phone number. When Lang asks if Gigi works with them, Andi admits she barely sees her and doesn’t know. Andi has been spending more time with Luciano and Clark and is currently clean enough to hold property in her name safely. Lang fishes for more details about how the South is operating and offers help if Andi needs it. He also brags about being marked by the Faceless, flashing his card and warning Andi that if she tells anyone, she might get killed. They briefly talk about CJ’s new motivations, and Andi is happy she’s doing well.

Liya calls to report that someone named Jacob Hatch was spotted walking around Cypress. CJ calls moments later with the same update, and Lang reminds her to keep their secrets. He then gets changed and relaxes in the hot tub, texting CJ the quote again just as a black jet flies over Cypress. He calls CJ back to compliment her attitude and reminds her to ignore Jacob and act like everything’s normal.

Finally, Lang returns Larry’s call and agrees to meet the Knox family at the Nest. A large group of them arrive, with Bubbles asking to join Lang in the hot tub while Larry tries to introduce them. Chaos quickly follows—two of them accidentally fall off the Nest, and Saab robs them while they’re downed. One by one, the Knox's introduce themselves. Larry makes them explain why they missed the funeral, and Lang quickly realizes it was their fault. He nearly shoots one of them, but decides against it. Larry asks if they can stay at the Nest, and Lang agrees under the condition that they keep it clean. With that, Lang heads to bed.
