2/4/2025 Kick Recap - "Life Is Like A Basketball Game"
Lang runs into Tony at the Forge and catches up briefly. Tony asks to drive Lang’s car, but Lang refuses to hand over the keys. Meanwhile, CJ updates Lang on her stalker situation—she spoke with the stalker’s boyfriend, cleared the air, and believes she’s now blocked and won’t be stalked anymore. She’s enjoying her newfound freedom without shoes, saying she feels more grounded. However, she parked her car and forgot people could lockpick it, so someone stole her parts.
Lang and CJ discuss their options for the jailbreak, debating whether they’re actually ready or if they’re getting in over their heads. Before they can decide, Larry and Bubbles show up to tell Lang about Ron Oil’s sudden presence in the city and the potential that oil might have moving forward. Lang doesn’t care or believe in it, telling Larry that he’s not locked in enough. Larry pushes back, arguing that the Lucky Plucker is open every morning and that he just wants to spend time with Lang, but Lang isn’t interested.
Lang takes them up into the Nest, where Bubbles brags about doing oxy runs with Zeek at 4 AM. Larry shares his personal frustrations, apologizing for missing the first funeral and promising to make it up to Lang for the sake of their friendship. After that, Lang heads up to the prison to meet with Cassie, but she’s nowhere to be found. The Lifers mention that she’s caught up in a beef with someone inside. Lang relays this to CJ, who helps explain that the conflict is why all the Lifers lost phone access. They want to set up a new job, so CJ leaves to prepare while Lang calls Saab down to the Forge to reprimand him.
Saab arrives and immediately apologizes for his performance yesterday. Lang questions him about Sofia getting raided, and Saab takes accountability for leaving the medical supply in the job car. To make up for it, he already paid Sofia 100k. They shift the conversation to Sofia’s potential and her relationships outside the crew, and Lang starts considering a new role for her to be promoted into. Saab wants to show Lang his hookah lounge, but Lang reminds everyone they have a meeting soon. Liya agrees and says they need to talk.
Lang pulls Liya aside to clarify what she means. She shares concerns about the crew not pushing weed as aggressively as they initially seemed eager for. Since Sofia and Martin haven’t been paying people out, she took it upon herself to start doing it. Lang offers to give her access to the money crates and remembers that he has plenty of money sitting in the clubs waiting to be cleaned. They form up a group and decide to get the money runs done.
During one of the runs, Lang crashes and gets ejected from the car. Liya takes him to the hospital to get back on his feet. While waiting, Liya asks Lang about the Luka trade, and he gives her his best metaphor for life. Gigi calls to check in, saying that Sofia told her Lang was sad. She fills him in on her time in the South, which Lang instantly regrets.
Gigi raises suspicions about Luciano and Andi spending private time together, assuming they’re up to something secret, though she hasn’t pressed them about it yet. She also reveals that she didn’t agree with Ilya being blooded out and didn’t even know he was dead until she saw the cops pulling his body out of the water. Lang believes the South is still lacking proper leadership, and Gigi agrees, giving examples of times when she’s been reined in for stepping up as a leader. Lang jokes about one day taking over the South again, but Gigi thinks it might be a lost cause.
Lang and the crew continue running money drops when the police start chasing them. Lang hides until the heat dies down, eventually finding his way into the ADMC garage, where he almost gets robbed—until they recognize him and leave him alone. Once the coast is clear, Lang drops off the money run truck and collects the cash. On the way back to Cypress, CJ crashes and ejects Lang again.
