2/5/2025 Kick Recap - "Stay Golden Pony Boy"
CJ calls Lang in a panic, so he invites her to the Nest. She arrives and recaps her night—she found a PC, some parts, a floppy disk, and a note covered in GTTC. Later, she got a ping to the radio tower in the hills and found another note, along with Jacob sitting in her car. He greeted her and left, and when she read the note, it was titled The Talon Oath. Lang immediately stops her in surprise, pressing for details—was she alone, where is the note now, and does she remember what it said? CJ offers to take Lang to where it was buried, so they head into the hills. Lang is thrown off by Jacob’s return, and CJ is worried her life is in danger again. She also tells Lang she’s buying the house beside the lighthouse, thanks to a loan from Marlo. Lang casually drops that LeBron doesn’t even remember signing the basketball she got.
Later, Lang and CJ return to the Rooster’s Rest, where CJ shows him the note. Lang cooks some old ramen and starts a small fire for them to burn it in. He tells her she’s now involved in something much bigger but isn’t sure how to proceed. They leave through the tunnels. Soon after, Tony calls with an update on the floppy disk—there’s a usable PC by the quarry, and now half the city is down there trying to figure it out.
Lang shifts focus back to the jailbreak plan and gathers thermite to test on the power plant. Liya runs into him at the Forge and suggests bringing in Zero or some of the old Lumber Company crew, but Lang believes they’ll only stay loyal to Jack Kettleman.
Lang and CJ drive to the power plant with all their supplies, trying to figure out how it works. They call Marlo for intel, then take a break to rob a 24/7. After two failed attempts at corner stores, Lang lets CJ try the next one while he waits outside. She successfully breaks into the vault, but they don’t find a card. Moving through a few more stores, CJ eventually finds a white card, which Lang takes to get an electronic kit. Sofia texts to talk, which Lang finds horrifying.
They meet at the Nest, where Sofia explains that she’s been talking to others about things she assumed weren’t important to Lang. She also spiraled a bit after his trading comment. Lang reassures her that he’s mostly just trolling them—he doesn’t actually care who they hang out with or what they do, as long as they know where the line is. They have a softer conversation about her role in the crew, how proud he is of her, and his excitement to see her develop her criminal skills. After she leaves, Lang reflects on how much he’s changing as a man, worried that he’s growing soft.
Lang and CJ head back to the power plant, where he learns that she’s colorblind. This somehow leads to a discussion about how she picks her socks. Lang attempts to hack the generators using the electronic kit (MAZER) but realizes he’s not capable of learning this hack. Before they can leave, the local police arrive. Lang tells CJ to hold it down while he makes several attempts at the first hack. He actually succeeds—only to immediately fall down the stairs and get shot by the locals.
Officer Ventura arrives and tries to get the locals to cease fire, but CJ grabs Lang’s body and attempts to throw him into the car. Officer McNulty and the others beat CJ down, and both Lang and CJ are arrested. EMS Veronica arrives to tend to Lang’s wounds, and they chat about LeBron being at the Met Gala.
Lang and CJ recover at the hospital before getting taken to BCSO. Lang argues with Officer Ventura as he tries to break out of his cell while CJ mumbles in pain nearby. When he finally gets his charges, Lang is furious to find out that his car has been slapped with a VAF.
