2/12/2025 Kick Recap - "Only Business, Not Personal"
Lang wakes up to a suspicious text, but realizes that it's Clark. Clark calls, Lang is disappointed there's no drama. CJ runs into Lang at the Forge, she's sick. Lang takes some washed cash to a club, before calling Arush to meet. Lang and Arush chat in the Nest about issues with Gigi and the South, Lang understands too well. Arush tells the story: Gigi gets kidnapped by the Besties, the South crashes out and breaches their heist, trying to rescue her. She confuses everyone by trying to say she is friends with them (the Besties) and that it's okay, in that moment the Besties shoot Cypress down. They hold her accountable for the issue, both Lang and Arush noting that she's infamous for being a wordsmith. Arush thinks that since the split, Gigi has wanted to be with the North. They're happy to have her, but they don't want her assistance in making Cypress look stupid. Lang and Arush chat about Clark's frustration, and his realization of how to be a better underboss. Arush doesn't think this is real drama, but he will gladly kill anyone for making his life more difficult.
Larry calls to invite Lang to a fentanyl event happening soon, reminding him of the process and the availability of the product. Lang calls Clark to the Nest to chat. Clark begins by saying that he lied when Lang called, his intention was to progress to one of the options they spoke about months ago, involving Cypress leadership. While exploring the Ron Oil heist, Luciano reminisced about the memories in the Legion Square park. He told Clark, unprovoked, that he would love to work with all the Dons again. Clark continues to re-tell the story about trying to save Gigi, and his conflict with how she handled it. He remembers Gigi talking about the South going soft, but Clark tried to show her that this situation adds to them looking soft, when he would want people to be rescued no matter what.
Lang and Clark discuss how smart Gigi is, and how her position makes it tough to punish without setting a greater precedent. Lang shares that Gigi voiced her distance and opinion about the South a couple weeks ago, and his issue with that. Clark and Lang agree that discussions like this are important, and hope that Gigi is reprimanded (not blooded out) for these issues. Clark circles back to Lang leading Cypress, or at least coming to a meeting - but Lang disagrees, never wanting to lead Harry or Luciano, again. Lang is happy with the North, even if there is back and forth - it helps give him perspective. Clark isn't happy to hear that Lang feels this way, but understands. Lang asks about Sofia, Clark is often confused with their closeness and clarity. Lang claims that he can't read Sofia, Clark agrees noting her hanging out with Hydra and the conflict she had with Capono. Lang asks about Capono, impressed with his mentality towards holding Sofia accountable.
Lang picks up CJ and joins the fentanyl event with her, faking like he was looking for the vehicle this entire time. Lang confides in CJ about his concerns with Martin not being around, and Saab potentially fitting the role. CJ tells Lang about Nino wanting to buy back the light house land, while still fighting the state on her behalf - she doesn't mind holding it until it's resolved. They find a car, bring it to Cypress and hide it while they wait for the trunk timer. Lang and CJ head to the Nest to continue their chat, spilling about the Clark talk and Lang leading Cypress. CJ agrees with Clark's opinion about Sofia, noting that she loves to stir. Lang comes to the realization that he is unaware of these things, stressing more about his need for an Underboss. CJ asks why Lang wouldn't either take Clark or just lead Cypress, but Lang jokes about how many people he'd have to kill for a start. Lang wants an Underboss for conversations like this, and was pleased with Martin because he played advocate the best.
