4/1/2025 Kick Recap - "Strayed From The Path"

Lang and Edgar chat on the couch about how passive Lang has become. Edgar wants to learn from Lang, hoping to understand how he built such a strong demeanor. Edgar reminds Lang that he hasn't spoken a word about the Rooster's Rest, in hopes to keep Lang's trust if they ever met again. Edgar receives a call, getting informed that his house arrest has been extended. Edgar calls his parole officer to check in, requesting food and a phone for Lang. They continue to chat about their differences, Edgar compares his struggles with the PD no different than his issues with other organizations. Edgar is sick to his stomach thinking about what Lang has become, but Lang thinks fate will decide what's next for him.

Officer Opal arrives with Gigi and hands off his new phone before leaving them to chat. Gigi tells Lang about the cameras, only her and CJ have access to them. Lang finds it suspicious, but doesn't speak. Edgar asks Lang if he's interested in attending the dinner he's having, warning him to dodge the bullets. Edgar asks how Lang knew of his dinner surprise, but Lang doesn't share much - making Edgar think it was Gigi. Edgar tells Lang of his dinner plans: to serve poisonous pufferfish for only himself, be cured in the ICU, and then to escape.

Arush comes by to see Lang, having missed him in the ICU yesterday. Arush asks for privacy and banters with Edgar to leave them. Not acknowledging Arush, he leaves, but CJ comes in next. CJ asks Lang how he's doing, and sits on the couch while they speak. Lang seems hopeless, CJ tries to pull the motivation out of him. Benny, Edgar's cousin, visits and they awkwardly passes Lang and CJ in the house. Lang doesn't know how long he's going to be in this state, CJ leaves him come cigs and a book. Lang sits down to eat some food, details his second day in his diary, and finds a note CJ left for him. CJ is worried about Lang being placed in this house, updating him about the North still surviving. She wants him to eat the note once he reads it, but he refuses.

As Lang steps outside for a smoke, Robin comes by to see if Lang wants his help - Lang doesn't. Jay Hobbs and Benny approach, interested in Lang and Edgar's reunion. Jay leaves, Benny whispers about Lang being the 'ferryman', but Lang is uninterested. Lang tries to flush CJ's note, passing Bane in the living room as he returns to his bed. Delver finds the paper and gives Edgar grief for not helping Lang keep the place clean. Beric and McNulty arrive for the dinner, Lang goes to the living room and watches TV in the middle of their conversation.

Lang sits in the kitchen for dinner, but after too much conversation he returns to the couch to watch TV. Lang comes and goes from the dinner table as he takes a smoke break, eventually finding a note from Bane. The note describes Bane's perspective of Lang before, and now. Bane is disappointed, but reminds Lang that his adventure out of The Pit is similar to his ascension now. Lang tries to flush this note, too. The dinner ends, everyone gives Lang well wishes as they leave. Edgar joins Lang for a smoke and chats about why nothing happened at the dinner, changing his plans. Edgar takes Lang outside to have a meta-guarded conversation

Edgar and Delver have a conversation with Happy, the house cleaner. Lang writes CJ a note and texts her to come to the house. CJ arrives and they chat outside, but CJ tells Lang that the other cameras from the Faceless are always watching. He asks her to stop playing with fire and putting her life in danger. Lang details how he got shot in prison, but includes the mention of the strange man and the note warning him. He doesn't want to willingly abandon her, but he's leaving fate to decide what happens next. Lang asks CJ to keep the Rest safe. He believes that he was only kept alive to keep the Rest safe, but that's her job now.

Lang asks Delver for a work bench in the yard, and then heads to bed.

Saab claims he's ready to die for this mission, Lang realizes he kept the wrong phone, so he drives back into the mountains to look for Cade. Lang finds a random hiker who seems extremely weird, but Lang leaves him be. He finds Cade and returns the phone, warning him about the strange hiker he found before. Lang rejoins CJ and Saab, they leave to get changed. Lang tries to call Edgar to get information, but Edgar shouts disguised instructions about Fort Zancudo.

Lang, Saab, and CJ head over to the mountains above the military base. He hops out and grapples to the radio tower inside of Fort Zancudo, Saab and CJ drive up to the highway side. Lang leaves Blackwell's phone at the Rest and calls Edgar, who tells them to head to the docks. Saab saw a bunch of helicopters flying towards Zancudo, so Lang takes a gamble and drives back over. Grappling back up another building, Lang spots a helicopter picking someone up. Lang shoots down the people and blows up the helicopter, in a panic they leave. CJ asks if it was Blackwell, Lang thinks so, but isn't sure. They drive down to the docks and find nothing, Lang discusses Edgar leading him to a false location. Lang calls Edgar back and yells at him about the mess, but Edgar thinks he was lied to by the Faceless. He's currently with Cypress 'looking', but they haven't found anything either. Lang returns to the Rest and drops off the equipment.

Lang calls Edgar and they argue about who tried to call who. Edgar tells Lang about how things went on his end, but he's sure that Blackwell was supposed to leave Fort Zancudo and be extracted from the docks, but Edgar waited at the docks and nobody arrived. Lang is more confident that he killed Blackwell at the base. Edgar is still stressed and wants to catch up, but is concerned that he might get taken out by the Faceless. Edgar thinks he has nowhere to go, but Lang tells him he has a place for him.

Lang and CJ thank Saab for his help and head down in the basement to de-brief. Lang and CJ are both confused, but think that the task has been completed. Lang is still concerned with the artifact transport, since they have no new information about it. Their discussion is interrupted by a radio interview with Eliza from Nu Epsilon. Eliza is thankful to be supported and welcomed so openly by the people of Los Santos. The interviewer asks about their anonymous donations, but Eliza dodges the question. The segment becomes distorted until it ends.

Lang checks in with CJ, reminding her that she's here to learn. He is concerned with the Guild growing jealous or suspicious of her, and taking action into her own hands. He still wants her opinions, but not to be contested on decisions. CJ understands what Lang means, and hopes to continue learning from him.

Lang heads to bed

Lang and Edgar meet, Edgar complains about being left out to dry during the Blackwell event. Lang tells Edgar about Liya being potentially dead, and then his phone scuff. Edgar bought a phone charger for Lang to keep at all times. Edgar gives Lang a short recap about how yesterday went: 3 groups (including South Cypress) were sent to find Blackwell and hold him for the Faceless to pick him up, and they will bring him to the extraction point. While working with Luciano, they realize they were told different places. They find Blackwell and bring him to Fort Zancudo, but were told to leave. Later, Edgar checked the army base and found the blown up helicopter and blood all over the ground, so he asks what Lang's perspective was like. Lang recaps what happened, including his sniping of Blackwell. Lang found the entire situation too easy, but it turned out to be coincidence.

Edgar was pressed by the Faceless about how he failed, but demanded his help with another job later that evening. Edgar is concerned that if the Faceless have access to his phone records, they will find that he called Lang many times during the job. Edgar is interrupted by a call from the Faceless, with instructions for a new job. Lang offers to give Edgar the Oracle book so that it gives the Faceless some trust that he's still working for them. Lang grabs CJ and the book, meeting Edgar at the Vinewood Bowl for the exchange.

Lang and CJ return to the Rest to chat about the plan going forward. Edgar calls to confirm the hand off, reminding Lang that he also wants to leave a partial trail in their phone records. Lang takes CJ into the basement, telling her about his intention to keep Edgar as their double agent by providing him 'stuff'. He believes that as things move forward, they may have to bring Edgar in. Lang would need a sign from the Stormlord to be convinced. Edgar calls to tell Lang that Trey was car-bombed last night, Lang is happy with that news. Lang and CJ agree to work together without tension or petty fights, CJ wants to clean up the Rest.

Lang heads to bed, reminding CJ to stay smart.

Clark recaps his Faceless mission: he was put in charge, Edgar tried to disrupt things, they fly around a bunch of helis and shoot down the enemies, eventually looting the damaged vehicles for USBs. Clark found 10 chips, they were looking for 10, and it was known that Clark was the only person handling it- so he didn't bring one for Lang. Each head of operations was given a chip to keep, Clark notes that Edgar should also have one. Clark would show Lang what's on the chip, but he's waiting for an access code to be delivered today. Lang questions why Clark wanted to be involved in this in the first place, Clark considered this epiphany since their first interaction at the gas station. Clark understands the seriousness of it all, but not to what extent. Lang wants to know where Clark is keeping the USB, Clark refuses to tell him until Lang gives him an ultimatum. Clark eventually shares that the USB is kept in Azul, where they have the ammo operation. Clark agrees to show Lang the USB later after he gets access, and asks Lang to keep their work together a secret - Lang agrees. Lang leaves him at the garage.

Lang drives up to Grapeseed to scope out the area, he crashes and ejects, going down. After being woken up in the hospital by the local EMS, Lang heads out and calls CJ. CJ tells Lang that Harry and Queenie called her down to deal with a book (the same one they tried to burn). CJ was told to handle it because she's the 'supernatural' person. CJ picks him up, Lang wants the book so he sends her to get it. Harry calls to chat about the book, he tells Lang that Isaac claims to have hidden a vial of the cure in Cypress, but they found the book while they were looking. Clark places a few bets that total to 2m in winnings, they wish him luck and take the bets. Lang starts writing up the receipts and gets confused when he compares the work online. Lang requests the receipts back from Clark to change them, Queenie (Clark's lawyer) advises against returning them until Lang threatens to ban him. Lang gives Clark new receipts, and then closes Blarney's to have a meeting.

Lang begins by reviewing each member's tasks and duties, determining that nobody really works for Blarney's effectively. Saab tries to explain that he delegates a lot of work to the employees, but they don't know enough consistently. Dante shares good qualities about Saab, but agrees that things could be better organized. Lang instills some new rules for Blarney's which includes being more organized and available. Leaving the meeting, Lang finds the South cleaning up trash left outside of Blarney's. Someone claims it was Tony, but they're unsure since nobody was around.
