4/8/2025 Kick Recap - "Everything Has It's Price"

Lang wakes up slowly before the DOC tell him his time is up. He isn't sure he's ready to leave yet, Grace asks if Lang will speak with Matt for a moment before going, he decides he's up for it. Matt meets Lang in the cells, questioning if he's changed much over the years. Lang realizes that Matt was the lifer who escaped and worked with Edgar, before Lang bombed Edgar's house and got Matt sent back to prison. Lang presses Matt for his agenda, but Matt has no intentions of hurting him. Matt makes clear by the end of their conversation that "we're always watching".

Opal informs Lang that CJ has arrived to pick him up, Lang takes his time to ready himself before stepping back into the 'real world'. North Cypress is there to greet him, Saab applauds his return. CJ takes Lang in her car, but screams in excitement that he's free. Officer Opal pulls them over, CJ tries to reason with them about taking Lang back so quickly, but she just wants to warn CJ about her speed. Lang returns to Cypress, gathering his things from the Forge and getting changed in the nest. Lang takes a walk through Cypress with Tony, who mentions that he's quitting racing to focus on better things. They run into Jonah and Skipper. He takes a solo walk through the meat factory, finding Larry and Bubbles' phones from the incident. He makes a final stop at the graves of Ilya and Tommy, leaving his old cane rested against the tombstones.

Lang and CJ catch up, he needs a new phone. She wants to get the warehouse transferred out of his name, they call Kitty down to help. They have a meeting in the Refinery where Lang gives them a status update on their new direction and structure. Reminding everyone that he blooded out Larry and Bubbles, he cautions them that they might still have beef now that he's out of jail. They are unsure what Martin will do or say once he gets out of ICU, but they'll cross that bridge when they get there. Lang thinks the old version of the North is dead. They aren't a crew anymore that requires kick ups, they are a family. He is proud of the South for being respectful during the chaos, and wants the North to make efforts to work with the South more often. Lang appoints Saab second in command, everyone cheers. Saab is surprised, but Lang believes that he held responsibility well, and has the experience needed for the role. CJ reminds everyone they agreed to hold a clown wedding at the Refinery, she'll need help with security. Lang has Jonah join the North, skipping the buy in and reminding him of their issue with treasonists. He wants to do the same with Hank, but he's not around. Lang ends the meeting, having Saab hang back to give him better clarity on why he's being appointed for this role. Lang reminds Saab that he's going to be spending more time with CJ and the other supernatural issues, so he needs someone around to keep the crew motivated on days where he's not as available. Saab understands, and is still hopeful that he's going to live through the plague.

Kitty is reluctant to take ownership of the Forge, but she's happy to take Tony's Redline repair shop. Lang isn't worried about raids anymore, so he gives Sofia the Forge. Lang and Sofia have a small chat about how much she missed him, and how happy she is to be with the group they have. Lang sits in serenity outside the warehouse, taking it all in. Lang and CJ make small talk about Nu Epsilon, she doesn't trust the Kifflommers at all. Saab interrupts them to say they want to Maze Bank on friday, Lang gives Martin's office to Saab.

Lang waits for CJ to come back from a job, Edgar and Jay stop by Cypress. They are surprised to find Lang, but Lang isn't. Lang gives them his new number, Edgar wants to speak later. Leon runs by, checking in on Lang while he looks for a car. Hank wakes up, Lang tells him to get his key from Sofia, and that he's in the crew now. Hank cries in appreciation.

Edgar calls from an anonymous number, warning Lang that if he doesn't make it out of his next meeting- he's dead. Lang calls CJ to tell her something similar, but she's done her job and picks him up. Edgar calls to meet, CJ panics about not having enough time for her talk, but Lang is confident they will.

Lang meets Edgar on the Legion Square bank roof, they begin their chat. Edgar was picked up by the Faceless and interrogated by them about their house arrest. He is sure they planned it. Edgar kept the details of Shadow and Talon hidden. Edgar wants his friend Fregg back, because of principle. Edgar was brought to this place by the Oracle, shown the signs (the billboards CJ showed Lang), and was told they are not what they seem. Edgar is sure that which inhabited Lang visited him in purgatory, even if Lang doesn't remember it. Edgar thinks the Faceless is afraid of something, which makes them looks weak. Lang agrees that they seem weak, but he needs to protect things, too. Edgar isn't sure what side to take, concerned with having a friend in Lang if he decides to go against the Faceless. Lang believes in destiny, reminding Edgar of the many times their paths have crossed, leading them to this moment. Edgar will roll the dice on it, leaving them both unsure where they stand, but the answer will come in two days. If Edgar goes missing in two days, he wants Lang to come find him - Lang agrees and leaves.

Rejoining CJ, Lang isn't eager to hear how CJ feels about Edgar potentially joining them in their quest. Lang and CJ go to the Rooster's Rest and sit at the meeting table in the basement. Lang tells CJ about his time with Edgar, what he revealed about the Faceless, and their potential alliance moving forward. CJ takes a moment to digest it all, but she crashes out, confused with Lang's trust in Edgar. CJ thinks Edgar is a notorious liar, and Lang agrees, but he can't help but feel like this path was fated. Lang shares Talon's view of everyone being an asset or a tool, no matter the emotion of it all. He believes she'll understand it more once she's educated on Talon's ideals. Lang admires Edgar, but he doesn't trust him.

Lang wants to spend time working with whatever is left in the Rest, quizzing CJ on what she's found so far. CJ found a cat, and the mask. Lang warns her not to touch either of them, she swears she didn't. CJ shows Lang her room with her collected clues, all of the photos and notes she's made about different people are scattered on the board. They are interrupted by a radio segment describing Nu Epsilon as a religion, not a cult. Lang suggests doing his community service with Nu Epsilon, but CJ thinks that they are the ones who have been snooping on the Rest. They assume Nu Epsilon is involved, but they don't know why.

CJ takes Lang to the room where she's gathered different books from the Library, or ones that have been left to her. She gives Lang the last mission book, he reads it slowly, becoming confused by who would have left it for her. CJ used the books to study and build outfits similar to what they used to wear, she spied on the person, but got scared and ran away. Lang goes through the other books, looking at the different markings and artifacts shown on the pages. Lang hasn't seen any of the items in one of the books, and notes that Shadow's armour looks different than his armour. CJ questions this, Lang shows her his room and the armour on it's stand. CJ shows Lang where she found a dropped book, but on the way to the basement, they find a broken wall with a tunnel leading to a new section of the Rest. (wow VOD 5:10) The tunnel leads to a new room with a flowing moat surrounding an empty altar in the center. Lang notes that things seem to be missing, probably the armour. He's never seen this place before, they are both stunned. Lang wants to rebuild and restore the Rest. Lang and CJ stop by the Mask, mentioning that he was afraid to touch it before, not anymore.

Lang sleeps in the Rest.
