5/1/2025 Kick Recap - "Zero Clark Thirty"

Lang wakes up to new texts from the Talon phone, providing information about their next mission. The artifacts should be moving via submarine, so they must intercept them on the water. As Lang tries to leave the Rest, a radio segment interrupts him. The segment warns of loose animals around the city and of the Lakers' loss last night (eliminated). Lang get's a shout out from Lebron James. Lang and CJ drive to the Forge, Lang calls Saab to give him grief about how things at the lighthouse ended up to be his fault. Lang leaves the blood sample in the Cave, but quickly checks if anything's changed on the USB. Lang calls for a meeting in the Refinery with everyone who was at the light house.

Lang has Saab tell the entire story from the beginning, eventually interrupting and yelling at them for all being stupid. Saab and Skipper admit to making dumb decisions, CJ was fearful of further consequences. After yelling at them enough, he sends them back to work. Lang goes by Snr Buns to get food, but finds someone behind the counter and makes them work. A food stall worker comes in to advertise his shop being open, Lang goes to get food from him, but he banters about not serving Lang anymore. Lang pulls out his shotgun and threatens the worker, he gives Lang food out of fear.

Lang calls Clark to chat about the Faceless, but reaches his voicemail. Lang yells at Clark for making his legacy about going to jail so much, disappointed in him shooting cops every morning. He heads to the Liquid Library to get a detailed tarot card reading. Queen of Cups in reverse (current situation), 6 of Swords (challenge or problem he faces), Knight of Swords (what is beneath him but affects him), Sun (what is behind you, recent past), 8 of Coins (his focus), The High Priestess (potential future), King of Swords (attitude, energy he gives off), Strength (the people who surround him), The Chariot (advice for the future), 10 of Wands (the outcome). After pulling the cards, the reader gives Lang a breakdown of what they could mean. Lang finds that his decisions might be selfish, but the people around him are trusted with an important secret, and that he isn't over something that happened to him recently (the Lakers loss). On the way out, Max offers Lang a drink which he skips, and Lexi calls Lang "emperor".

Saab calls for Lang to join the fentanyl run he's starting, Lang agrees as he stops by prison to visit Clark. Lang tells Clark what he said on the phone, but wishes to speak about some more private things when he's out. Lang joins the run and picks up the dropped off cash after the North successfully completes all 3. Lang texts Edgar about trying to reach him, including the name of double agent hoping that the Faceless reads it. Edgar calls and they argue about who of the two of them have been waiting more, Lang demands that they meet on the top of Mt. Chiliad.

Edgar tells Lang that he would have called Lang if he had information, but he's been around every day. Edgar has tried to meet with the Faceless, but they keep brushing him off. Lang presses Edgar for what he's been wasting his time with, Jay went back to the Besties and Edgar has been spending time with Eliza. Edgar tells Lang of a suspicious car that pulled up to him and Eliza and played a radio segment, and then blew up. Lang thinks Edgar is wasting time and lying to him, but Edgar pleads that he's sharing the truth. Edgar remembers that the Guild has been tormenting him by not letting him use the Orb, and by taking him on a tour of the Stormlord.

Lang returns to Cypress and runs into Windsong who needs a ride to the hospital. After dropping her off, he keeps watch over Blarney's until Clark comes to meet him. Clark arrives and Lang critiques his fit until he eventually asks about his experience with the Faceless. Clark thinks that the Faceless really likes him because of previous missions he's done.

-
Without telling him why, Lang alludes to Clark becoming his double agent - Clark agrees to it. He wasn't given a new task, but he'll keep Lang updated. Lang calls Eliza to see if there will be any community service today, she claims there is an event shortly. Lang asks if the Oracle will be there, surprising her. Eliza isn't sure where the Oracle will be, and isn't naturally affiliated with him. Lang hangs at Blarney's until some Vagos come through Cypress looking to meet Cypress professionally. Lang finds it suspicious so he calls Skipper, and Skipper calls Luciano. Lang keeps an eye on them until things seem to be chill, returning to Blarney's to grab Saab for a chat.

Lang tells Saab about the mission tomorrow involving the submarine, having no faith in CJ being ready to help. Lang asks if Saab can convince Skipper to come along, but make it seem unimportant. Saab is going to come up with a cover story to convince Skipper to come along that doesn't involve the mention of Talon. Bjorn and some Lifers come by Blarney's, Lang makes investigative small talk with Bjorn about how things with the Guild are going. It takes a few pressing questions to get Bjorn to admit that the Guild has been talking about the Stormlord, and giving people new teachings. Bjorn agrees that Lando still can't keep his mouth shut, Lang isn't impressed.

Lang goes to the Nu Epsilon event, they wait patiently for the guests to arrive for a talent show. Eliza and Diego roleplay rude people confusing Lang who doesn't believe their 'nice' act. Lang makes small talk with some of the volunteers about their tattoos, the clowns, and why they agree to help Nu Epsilon. The event takes too long to start, Lang returns to Cypress and gives Saab a pep talk about the mission. Edgar calls to chat, but he's in the sewers. Lang goes to meet him in the sewers, even though he's suspicious.

Lang leans against the rail in the sewers as Edgar tells of the meeting he had with the Faceless. The Faceless are satisfied with Edgar's relationship with Lang, and pleased to get the book from the Oracle (which Lang gave Edgar). They told Edgar about a new mission labeled "Concrete Phantom", Lang recognizes from the USB. Edgar noticed Lang's reaction to the artifacts, so he asked about them - Lang interrupts thinking that Edgar's trolling him. Edgar argues that he's doing all that he can to get as much information as possible. Lang tells Edgar that the mission tomorrow is imperative, Edgar thinks what Lang is looking for in plain sight. Lang doesn't entirely trust what Edgar is told from the Faceless, in case it's bait. Lastly, Edgar mentions that Luciano and some of the South meet with the Faceless regularly, but not about what they chat about. Edgar wants time to look into the files, so he can make better plays. Lang claims that he trusts Edgar enough to show him the files and the Cave again, if he survives tomorrow.

Lang leaves the sewers and drives over to the Cave, checking the USB one final time before heading to bed.
