5/26/2025 Kick Recap - "Flashes Of Greatness"

Lang and CJ leave the Rest to grab food, but return to to catch up on things. CJ tells Lang that someone else tried to kill Diego over the weekend, so he's grown extra suspicious of things. CJ shares bits of her plan with Lang, detailing how she's going to encourage Diego towards her property at the light house. CJ asks for a bomb, Lang jokes about not being able to just make her a bomb whenever he wants. He will show her how to make a bomb eventually, but not for this. CJ questions details around the plan, hoping to get advice, but Lang doesn't want to give her advice for this. CJ has to kill Diego on her property, and he warns of this becoming some crazy supernatural thing with Norman. She continues by recapping that Marshall Dark pulled up on the North looking for Lang, and has been around the area that they push oxy. The South got raided, and Hydra has been on a ceasefire until today (Lang woke up on the weekend and yelled at everyone for having terrible radio comms, eventually making 'peace' with Flippy over twatter).

Lang and CJ return to the Forge, Fiona has been working on the warehouse, Zeek won a crate with 40 slick tires. Lang grabs his cash from the money crate (96k) and is upset with how little it is. He quickly remembers the office cash and piles up the 600k he has stashed. Lang stops by Blarney's to check the books and the bank, impressed with how productive it's been. Lang and Saab catch up at the water tower: Saab had a back and forth with the Besties to try and settle things. The slot machine makes them a ton of money, Saab is proud of everyone in Cypress for working so well together. Lang and Saab argue about what is expected of them, Lang tries to show Saab that the mentality of the cops is justified with how Cypress has been operating.

Lang leaves to get a hand delivered letter at MRPD. The delivery woman (Kiva's new character) reads out the note of love from Skipper. Lang replies to his letter, fining Skipper 100k for wasting his time. Lang gives her 10k as a tip, and asks if she can deliver bombs, but she can't look inside the packages she delivers. Lang returns to Blarney's and calls Clark to check in, Clark asks about the war, but Lang claims that it's over. Clark was too busy and hasn't gotten any new Faceless information. Lang calls Opal to see if he can gather anymore information on Ursula, but she can't disclose the answers to his questions.

Lang is contacted by Marshall Dark and asked to meet. Dark escorts him into an office where he discloses that Lang isn't actually in trouble, but they have some questions relating to suspicions they have. Lang jokes about the PD leaking previous discussions, so as long as they don't leak this, he'll be satisfied. Dark begins his line of questions about the Rooster's Rest, and his ownership of the property. Lang informs them that he's owned it for many years. Next, Dark asks about Lang's interactions with the Faceless. Unsure how intentional this conversation is, and lacking a relationship with Dark, Lang tries to answer lightly and dodge most of the critical information. Lang shares concerns that many people in the city are involved, including members of the government and people close to Dark. Dark reads a book that details a warning to Osheira about the Faceless, a man who can turn into a crow, and that a storm is brewing. Lang and Dark question each other back and forth about the finer details, Lang admits to knowing about the book and adding information to troll people before leaving it in the Marshall's office. Dark is annoyed about the prank, thinking that it was a worthy lead. Dark sends Lang the image of the person who turned into the crow, Lang thinks they're a loser in cosplay. Dark asks if Lang's been called 'the Ferryman', he admits that he's heard Edgar's story about visiting him in purgatory. They end the interview, Lang is thanked for his time and escorted back out.

Mickey calls and requests a meeting in the basement of Tequilala. Mickey tells Lang that he looks old, surprised that he maintains that look in a world full of plastic surgery and hair transplants. Mickey wants Lang to hit the vault, but he's still working on the rest of the plan and contacting the rest of the group. Mickey wants to get a Cussy for them to escape, but Lang thinks he'll have a hard time finding one. Mickey asks about the end of Cerberus and what Lang has been up to in Cypress, they trade histories. Mickey wants a 10% cut to pay for his lodging and new suits, he's upset to be using lower quality products now that he's broke. They promise to stay in touch, Mickey wants to be sure Yuno can hack still.

Lang returns to Cypress and checks on Saab, annoyed that he's doing nothing. Lang stops by the hospital and checks if Clark is there, but the cops haven't seen him. Officer Angel catches up with Lang, she comments on his new older look. Lang gives her a ride to MRPD, almost telling her about the coincidence of running into her after hearing about the journal he left in her office months ago. Lang returns to Cypress to put away all the supplies he has, and then to the food court to grab a snack. He runs into the woman Edgar's marrying, she reminds him that it's on Thursday evening.

Frustrated with the cars parked outside of Blarney's, Lang lights one of them on fire and blows it up. CJ tries to save her car parked nearby, but explodes in her car. Yuno comes by and tells Lang that he bet 100k on basketball, and that he's excited to do that new Mickey job together. They joke about how Tony still owes him money, but Lang thinks that's normal Tony. Lang calls CJ to check if she's okay, she didn't realize he was the one who blew up the truck near her car. CJ claims that it burnt off all her hair, she's bald now. Lang tells Saab about the new parking policy, Saab admits that his truck was the one Lang blew up and that he should have parked it better. Lang joins them for some money runs, they have a meeting in the Refinery after.

Lang calls Clark on the way to the meeting, but get's his voicemail since he's still in custody. Lang continues to leave Clark a really long voicemail as a stalling tactic for Saab to give an impression of leadership. Lang runs into Dante who is dressed up like Gambit, and then joins the meeting in the Refinery. Saab begins a prolific monologue, detailing how both Hydra and the Besties came down to Cypress and treated them. While sharing this story, Saab chokes out Jonah and Skipper. Lang acts as if he has no idea what's happening, but is impressed with Saab. Skipper is choked until he passes out, CJ requests that she's not choked out, but Saab refuses. Saab shares that he was trying to teach them a lesson in disguise as he chokes out CJ, Lang questions if they can learn the lesson while they're passed out. Saab tries to wake them up in time for a Fleeca, but it seems like they all need to be taken to the hospital.

As they load up the car, CJ admitted to fake passing out in fear. Lang presses Saab for handling this terribly and not showcasing his position correctly. Dante radios that Vill Ager just turned into a zombie, Lang tells him to handle it because they're busy (laughing in the process). They find Skipper in the ICU where a doctor informs them that he's been severely choked and can't speak while his throat is enflamed. They are given a moment to see him, Lang tells Skipper that everything will be okay. The doctor reminds them about safer choking standards as they leave.

Lang drives around with Saab and Jonah as they look for CJ. Clark calls back, Lang yells at him for going to jail every day. Clark asks about Martin, and then about the transfer market being open. Clark jokes about being traded to the North, Lang thinks he could give 60% of the North for Clark. Lang passes off a Blarney's customer to the staff and then heads to bed.
