8/11/2025 Kick Recap - "The City Eats The Sweet First"
Nothing crazy happened over the weekend, Queenie came up with some good ideas and someone tried to get married in New Babylon, but Saab refused. Chrome should have a slam van created today, they still aren't able to make ammo for Arush's gun yet. Saab tried to work with Edgar on his morale, Lang is annoyed that Edgar is still being dramatic. Luciano was taken for question about South Cypress related things, Lang doesn't care. Dougie came by for a tour, Luciano probably gave an application, Lang doesn't think it's an approval. There hasn't been any petty drama, but they visited the farmer's market over the weekend and found it awkward. New applicants like Lottie and Fiona have been good, EJ hasn't returned since last week. Edgar seems bored, Lang and Saab agree that he's trying to move too quickly. Lang compliments Saab's recap ability, and then goes to meet Arush to chat.
Arush tells Lang about a rumoured camp site, they go to check it out but crash in the hills on the way. After getting help from NB, they return to the tree house and find a camera while investigating. Lang returns to NB and meets with CJ to go over the next history book, but they are interrupted by cops on the lake trying to pester them. Lang is pleased with how detailed the book is, but it lacks the story perspective and hopes CJ can edit towards that. CJ spills some tea with Lang about how Brekkers thought NB was a cult and tried to 'free' her by kidnapping her. CJ shares that she wasn't sure what to budget for the Library construction, after discussing with Saab.
Lang finds Saab and yells at him for getting involved in what other people should charge for their business, he threatens to cut Saab's balls off if he does it again. Lang checks with Skipper about earnings and what their price point is for the new vans. Everyone in NB is getting their own vehicles, they are satisfied. Edgar calls to tell Lang that he wants to burn the blueprints at today's town meeting. CJ calls back trying to clarify her prices, Lang and her argue about why she feels bad for Fiona. CJ decides to charge people 1 BBL for renting a book, which would include Lang, but he jokes that he's the Grand Elder so he can do what he wants (and not pay).
After some work on the wall and an attempt to create a new guard tower, Saab calls for the town meeting. Lang gives a powerful speech about business operations, reminding everyone that they will take their business from them if unsuccessful. Edgar gives a speech about the blueprints, and then burns them in a fire Lang creates. A storm arrives, throwing debris and people around - everyone hides until it passes. Lang speaks with Clark about the cartography, impressed with how he's been handing this role. He foresees Clark's team becoming Rangers, Edgar comes by to discuss how they may have to prepare for The Faceless' wrath.
Lang goes looking for the book that Max dropped off, nobody seems to have it. He gets lead from person to person, eventually meeting with Delver and gets distracted by chatting about his deputy choice (Harry). Delver shows Lang the area he wants to put his office, he'll have a zen garden of sand for people to work with while they're being questioned.
Edgar and Sofia find Lang and finally give him the book. It's covered in fingerprints, blood, written ramblings and stitched notes. Lang finds it manic and strange, but interesting enough that someone has been gathering information on them. Sofia gives Lang the list of applicants, Lang clears through the queue and returns to chatting with Delver. Delver recaps his current investigation of a suspicious note left on Sebas' chapel about motorcycles having souls, Lang finds it silly but glad that he's doing something. Delver determines having gloves is bad for tracking fingerprints, Lang agrees and let's him ban gloves if he wants. Lang gives Delver a budget of 10 BBL a week, and then meets with Sofia.
